NYC Pride is one of the largest events in the US. After two years of being held online, it returned onsite, and I had the great pleasure to work with Blonde + Co by presenting the idea below that turned out to be winner concept.
The 2022 theme chosen by the community is Unapologetically us, and we made sure to bring this attitude to our photography, graphics, and overall communication. A way this was expressed was through our treatment to the flag. We took in consideration a stripe for each color of each flag we have to represent and by melting them all together we celebrate our union, something essential for everything we need to fight for as a community.
We talk about our differences that makes us so unique, yet so relatable.
We celebrate those who walked, so we could run today.
We shout out and refuse to hide our pride.
We never, ever, forget to keep fighting.
For ourselves, for our community.
We still have dreams to accomplish.
When we look back, we see how much we have evolved.
Sometimes we need to stop, take a look and see how amazing, strong and fabulous we are.
It’s about time to own up to who we are!
Almost every queer kid has been told at one point to act like a boy, or act like a girl.
We tried to understand, but it has never made any sense to us.
What’s wrong with being free to be who we are? Nothing!
Today, thanks to many people who fought for our rights, we can act like we want, and encourage others to do the same.
